Hello, my name is Joanne Harrison.

I am a hypnotherapy practitioner and solution-focused hypnotherapist, with over 18 years’ experience working in mental health within the NHS, and in private practice as a therapist since 2016.

Throughout my career, I have supported people through a wide range of life challenges — including emotional distress, periods of change, uncertainty, and feeling stuck or disconnected from themselves. My work is grounded in care, compassion, and respect for each person’s unique life experience. I believe there is nothing “wrong” with you; rather, some parts of you may have learned to carry too much on their own.

My Approach — Self & Shadow Therapy

Self & Shadow Therapy is a gentle, depth-oriented approach that recognises all parts of you as meaningful.

Rather than trying to fix, suppress, or override uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, or patterns, this work focuses on understanding them. Often, the parts of ourselves we struggle with — such as anxiety, self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, or avoidance — are protective responses shaped by earlier experiences. They developed for a reason.

In our work together, we slow things down and create a safe, thoughtful space to explore both the parts of you that feel familiar and the parts that may have been pushed aside, ignored, or misunderstood — the shadow. With compassion and curiosity, these parts can be acknowledged, integrated, and relieved of the roles they no longer need to carry.

I draw on hypnotherapy, solution-focused therapy, and reflective inner work to support you in:

  • developing greater self-awareness and emotional safety

  • understanding inner patterns without judgement

  • reconnecting with your own inner resources and resilience

  • moving forward in a way that feels authentic and sustainable

This approach is not about reliving the past or forcing change. It is about understanding yourself more deeply, so change can arise naturally, at your own pace.

What You Can Expect

I offer a calm, respectful, and confidential therapeutic space where you are met exactly as you are. Sessions are collaborative and led by your needs, with care taken to work safely and gently.

My role is not to tell you who to be, but to support you in reconnecting with your own inner authority, clarity, and capacity for growth.
